In a classic showdown for the Sprint Cup Championship, Tony Stewart won the title by edging Carl Edwards in the season's final race at Homestead, FL. The 2 drivers actually finished tied in the points, but Tony won the tiebreaker with his remarkable 5 wins in the 10 races of the Chase. It's simply amazing that a grueling 36-races spread out over a 9-month season ended up being decided by a margin of less than 2 seconds between 2 contenders! The story for the FedEx Race Team was a familiar one . . . struggling with a car that was fast, just not fast enough to compete for the win. Denny Hamlin did manage to bring the #11 FedEx Express Toyota to a 9th place finish, his 4th Top Ten in the last 5 races. The FedEx Team's poor start in the Chase was just too much to overcome, and they finished tied for 9th in the Final Standings. So the 2011 season is history, and it's only about 3 months until Speed Week in Daytona rolls around again. Until then, remember . . . Every day is Race Day!
